Brand-Building Packaging™ research, development and engineering facilities in Alsip, near Chicago, Illinois (left), and Wantage, England (right).
Crown's two main research, development and engineering centers are the focal point for our innovation initiatives. The teams housed here also provide unsurpassed support to our customers and operations worldwide. One center is located near Chicago, Illinois; the second is located in Wantage, England. We also operate regional Centers-of-Excellence in Singapore; Massillon, OH; Lancaster, OH; and Aprilia, Italy, where engineers specialize in specific packaging technologies.
At our pilot facilities for metal packaging and printing technology, we can conduct extensive testing on new packaging products in an environment that replicates the conditions in which packaging is filled, processed, used and handled by our customers.
These pilot facilities, along with the use of computer aided design (CAD) and modeling, enable us to greatly reduce packaging development time scales and increase the success rate of new products in the marketplace. As a result, we have made numerous patented advancements in packaging products and manufacturing technology.
Effective innovation requires tight focus and strategic customer partnerships. In line with our World-Class Performance methodology, our research, development and engineering activity is committed to delivering the right products, at the right time, at a competitive price.
Whether improving existing products or breaking new ground in packaging technology, our R&D project teams combine their own scientific expertise with a thorough understanding of customer expectations, suppliers' capabilities and our manufacturing processes. Our approach to managing innovation ensures that time-to-market and costs are kept to a minimum while sales potential is maximized for our customers.
