How can metal packaging help consumer products companies like Nestlé achieve sustainability goals?
For the decorative tin developed for Nestlé Quality Street® chocolate, Crown decreased overall height by 10mm and reduced the metal thickness of both the lid and end.
The promotional tins also benefit from metal's inherent sustainability properties. Metal is 100% recyclable and infinitely reusable, minimizing the use of natural resources. Consumers also have an opportunity to reuse the empty tins - and interact with the brand - long after the chocolate is consumed.
Changes to container height and metal thickness saved over 200 tons of steel in the manufacturing process. Crown also helped Nestlé achieve significant energy savings by increasing the number of metal tins on each pallet for transportation and reducing the number of vehicles needed to deliver the annual volume of metal containers.
