Philadelphia, PA – February 10, 2005. CROWN Aerosols Europe, an affiliate of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown), announced today that, in partnership with Gillette, the customer-supplier team has been awarded the prestigious Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Award for achievements made by both companies over the last several years. The award was presented at a ceremony in late October 2004 at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

The annual competition awards excellence in purchasing and supply management. Entrants select from a range of categories, including Best Contribution to Corporate Responsibility, Best Use of Technology and Best Process Improvement Initiative. Gillette and Crown were awarded Best Purchaser-Supplier Partnership against competition from world-class companies including British Aerospace, Barclays Bank, Carlsberg and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Crown was invited to co-enter the competition by Gillette in recognition of the high service levels resulting from a Supplier Partnership Initiative (SPI) embarked upon by the two companies in 2002. The program revolves around an SPI team consisting of three members each from Crown and Gillette that is charged with measuring and reporting service KPI's, investigating methods to improve service and quality, and exploring and implementing cost savings that are shared between the companies. Each quarter, progress is reviewed by a panel of senior managers from both companies. The SPI between Gillette and Crown has yielded remarkable results over the last four years.
