Bosch Launches New High-End IXO Screwdriver With Distinctive Metal Packaging from CROWN Speciality Packaging

Innovative Package Wins Prestigious APEAL Packaging Award

Philadelphia, PA – April 22, 2005. CROWN Speciality Packaging, an affiliate of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:CCK) (Crown), announces that German-based Bosch Group has launched its new high-end IXO power screwdriver with custom metal packaging for the European and Asia-Pacific markets. The screwdriver is available at the leading DIY retailers and selected high-street outlets.

The IXO packaging appeals to customers both as an attractive retail item and as a storage solution to be used in the home again and again. Featuring a brushed-steel-finish base rising to a complementary deep hunter green with raised, vibrant red type, the innovative packaging is highlighted with a finely detailed etching of the screw-driver, presenting an upscale, singular shelf presence.

"This premium packaging for the world's first lithium-ion power-tool differentiates the IXO from its competitors in DIY stores as well as in more traditional retail environments," said Pascal H. O. Fiedler, Brand Manager at Bosch. "Our innovative metal box underscores the quality and durability of our product and helps differentiate our brand to consumers. The visual appeal and enhanced convenience of this package also allow us to speak to a broader range of consumers. This is important since the DIY market has become more demographically diverse in recent years."

The launch of the IXO screwdriver in vibrant and premium packaging reinforces Bosch's market leadership in the power-tool industry and positions the company as an industry innovator.

"Bosch has, with this new metal package, built on their powerful brand image with an entirely new demographic," explained Stefan Guenther-Balbon, Sales Development Manager at CROWN Speciality Packaging Germany. "Working with the Bosch team, we were able to create a package that reflected the durability and quality of the product, while also appealing to a broader demographic in the DIY market. This was both a packaging and marketing challenge and we are pleased with the results on both fronts."

Bosch's innovative new package was awarded a prestigious APEAL Steel Packaging Effectiveness Award at a ceremony in Dusseldorf, Germany during Interpack. The Steel Packaging Effectiveness Award recognizes packaging concepts that have proven successful in the market and have generated increased sales, market share, profitability, brand awareness and/or consumer attitude shifts. The award is sponsored by APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging.
