Crown has built its reputation on innovation.
It all started when our founder William Painter invented the bottle cap, which revolutionized the bottling industry. His ingenuity, and the leadership of those who came after him, charted the future course of the company.
Today, Crown is the largest metal packaging company in the world, offering its customers a range of technologies for the food, beverage, health and beauty, household and industrial markets. In fact, in 2013, Crown produced well over 100 billion packages around the world.
Crown's research and development team includes scientists, specialist engineers, food technologists and designers. Leveraging this expertise has led to an extensive track record of innovation and technology leadership. A high percentage of our ideas are converted into reality, several of which have involved external innovation partners.
A critical factor in our successful approach to innovation is our commitment to augment internal expertise with that of external partners, including industry groups, associations and universities. We seek partners that share a common interest in challenging the status quo, advancing the industry’s offerings and creating technologies that enhance our everyday lives and improve sustainability.
While every experience is unique, here are some common ways we have worked with outside resources to commercialize their ideas:
- Licensing or Purchase of Patents/Trademarks
- Joint Development Agreements
We look forward to hearing about your technologies and processes that can help us achieve our main goal as a packaging partner: helping our customers launch successful new brands, invigorate existing brands and drive business regionally and globally.
