Season's Greetings 2023 Twenty by 30 Accelerating Sustainability Best Wishes from Crown Bevcan EMEA

Season's Greetings

To celebrate 2023, we decided at Crown Bevcan EMEA to support the planting of 5,400 trees in our EMEA region, close to some of our operations and local communities. This new and alternative gesture aligns with our commitment to sustainability through actively addressing climate change and biodiversity loss.

Our donation went to Reforest’Action, a B Corp-certified company whose mission is to preserve, restore and create (agro)forestry ecosystems around the world, and will support 3 projects which will be monitored and assessed over time.

Sustainability is at the core of our business, and our strategy is to concentrate our efforts on initiatives where we can create a notable impact and make responsible choices that prioritize our environments, resources, people and communities.

Taking action to protect the forests is vital to preserving the future of humankind as they consolidate natural ecosystems and help absorb CO2 emissions.

As a global manufacturer, we have an important role to play in slowing the pace of climate change, and as forest are the first land-based carbon sink, supporting reforestation projects takes our commitments further.

The trees planted with Reforest’Action will create substantial benefits for forest ecosystems in our EMEA region.

Meurthe-et-Moselle, France

Crown planted 1,800 trees for this project.

The Abbe Forest, located in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, close to Custines, is mainly composed of oak trees. Unfortunately, this ageing stand now needs to be renewed to secure its future. As part of the project, the growth of 22,500 young trees is supported thanks to various silvicultural operations, which will prevent the owner from harvesting it.

Our donation’s estimated benefits:

  • Climate: 270 tons of CO2 stored in 30 years
  • Employment: 257 days of work created

Crown planted the remaining 1,600 trees to complete this project.

There are many lands in this region with poor and degraded soils that were once used for agriculture. The project supports the planting of a neglected farmland, and some parcels are also concerned with the restoration of forest ecosystems damaged by fires. All the services rendered by the forest will be highlighted here: landscape restoration, hosting biodiversity, adaptation of forests to climate change, timber production and even mushroom production. All of this is done with a local workforce.

Our donation’s estimated benefits:

  • Climate: 240 tons of CO2 stored in 30 years
  • Employment: 229 days of work created

Taza, Morocco

Crown planted the remaining 2,000 trees to complete this project.

In Morocco, climate change and the hazards it causes considerably weaken the agroecosystems in the north-western part of the country. In this region known for its arboriculture, agricultural practices also contribute to deteriorating soils and polluting ecosystems.

The project will help restore endemic keystone species that will provide healthy habitat structures and re-establish resilient agroecosystems in the Taza region.

Our donation’s estimated benefits:

  • Climate: 300 tons of CO2 stored
  • Employment: 286 days of work created
