Being a good corporate citizen and neighbor is a key part of our business philosophy and we embrace the opportunity to engage in the local communities where we operate. Our corporate citizenship activities focus on a wide range of issues including environmental protection, investing in local youth and preparing tomorrow’s workforce.

Our Conroe, Texas beverage can plant exemplifies our commitment to our communities and was recently recognized with the 2019 Large Business of the Year award from the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce. Local employees have dedicated their time and money to support several worthy community causes and activities that make the city a better place to work and live.

A key focus for the plant has been driving potential hires to the manufacturing sector, both for today’s workforce as well as into the future. In addition to underwriting the Montgomery County job fair with staffing partner Resource MFG to help connect community residents with available jobs, Crown has been active in secondary schools and colleges in the Conroe area. For example, members of the plant’s leadership team visited with students at Willis High School, part of the Willis Independent School district, which has programs in manufacturing, engineering and other STEM fields, to discuss potential career paths. There are plans underway to have members of the school’s senior class tour the Conroe facility to see the beverage can manufacturing process up close. The plant has also sent representatives to the Conroe Independent School District job fair and is working on an apprenticeship program with Lone Star College.

Other highlights include:

  • Facilitated knowledge sharing by hosting one of the monthly HR Fuse events for human resources professionals in the Conroe area.
  • Donated over 1,100 pounds of food to the Montgomery County Food Bank in 2019.
  • Sponsored community activities including the Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade and Walking in a Chamber Wonderland.

We are proud that our employees are engaged, active members of their communities and congratulate the entire Conroe team on their achievement.
