Eole III(TM) From Crown Cork & Seal Wins WorldStar Award

(NYSE: CCK) announced today that it has been awarded a prestigious WorldStar Award in the Food/Retail Category for its Eole III(TM) high performance easy open end. Sponsored by the World Packaging Organization, WorldStar winners were formally recognized at a ceremony in Dusseldorf, Germany during Interpack, April 24 - 30, 2002.

Eole III(TM) is manufactured with thinner and harder double reduced steel, decreasing the peel force required to open the can by 25%. The end is significantly smoother and easier to open without risk of spillage, and does not compromise superior performance through filling, handling and distribution channels.

Eole III(TM) is fully interchangeable with existing Crown Eole(TM) ends, enabling customers to use the same seamer parts thereby maximizing production uptime and eliminating costly changeovers.

Currently available in 73mm and 83mm diameters, Eole III(TM) easy-open ends eliminate the need for can openers and are convenient for on-the-go consumers, making them ideal for a variety of food products. Potential applications include fruits, vegetables, soup, pet food, beans, pasta, rice pudding and custard.
