The annual celebration of Halloween has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, the tradition has evolved into a holiday where the young and the young-at-heart overindulge in candy and dress up in their favorite costumes.

For brand owners, this much-loved holiday offers a tremendous opportunity to connect with consumers by offering special package formats and designs tailored for the celebration. The beverage can, in particular, is the perfect vessel for eye-catching designs that stand out on store shelves. The format offers a 360-degree branding billboard and a variety of print finishes and enhancements that bring witches, ghouls, goblins and other holiday characters to life.

This year, Crown’s plants in Seville and Agoncillo, Spain, partnered with Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) to develop 330ml beverage cans with Interchangeable SuperEnds® for Fanta products in Spain. Four Fanta flavors - Orange, Lemon, Orange Zero (sugar-free) and Lemon Zero (sugar-free) - were available to Spanish consumers exclusively for the months of September and October.

The spooky, unique designs featured Frankenstein, Dracula, Calavera (Skull) and Bruja (Witch), and allowed trick-or-treaters and retail shoppers to add the delicious beverage to their list of sweet treats.

These cans are a great example of how brands can work with Crown to create one-of-a-kind, seasonal or holiday-geared promotional packaging that creates new opportunities to connect with consumers.
