Crown Expands Presence In Asia Pacific Region With Its First Beverage Can Manufacturing Plant In Indonesia

Philadelphia, PA – December 8, 2017. Crown Asia Pacific, a division of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), celebrated the opening of its new beverage can manufacturing plant in Jakarta, Indonesia at the opening ceremony held yesterday. The facility is Crown’s 16th beverage can plant in the Asia Pacific region and its first in Indonesia. 

Located just outside of Jakarta in the city of Karawang, the plant is in close proximity to soft drink, juice and other beverage manufacturers concentrated in the Indonesian capital. The single-line facility will produce standard 330ml two-piece aluminum beverage cans and a range of specialty sizes and has an initial annual capacity of 650 million cans. It has been designed to be able to accommodate a second can line with similar capacity and a beverage end production line, allowing Crown to continue to scale up production when market demand calls for it.

The new plant will create over 100 jobs in its first year, with more than 90% of its workforce coming from the local community.
