With a dedicated plant located in the economically dynamic province of Bursa, CROWN Foodcan Turkey, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com) offers a portfolio that spans a wide range of food cans and ends, as well as capabilities such as printing and lacquering for a broad range of food markets. As a member of the Metal Packagers Association (MASD) and the Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD), Crown’s Turkish facility is committed to supporting developing and emerging markets.  In October, the company is showcasing its innovative and sustainable food packaging technologies at the Eurasia Packaging Fair 2015, October 22-25 Istanbul, Turkey (Hall 7 Stand: 731A).

Currently the 16th largest economy in the world and the sixth largest economy compared with EU member states, Turkey is expected to be one of the fastest growing economies among the members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) during 2014-2016, with an annual average growth rate of 3.6%.  The local canned and preserved food market increased by 6% in value terms in 2014 and is expected to experience a compound annual growth of 4.7% in value until 2019, due to rapid urbanization, a burgeoning middle class and increasingly busier lifestyles. As the country with the highest birth rate and the youngest population in Western Europe, Turkey’s consumption habits are changing, stimulating growth in the canned and preserved food sectors.

Convenience continues to drive consumer purchasing decisions while easy-open packaging that is user-friendly remains vital in impacting consumers’ purchasing decisions. To this end, at Eurasia Packaging 2015, Crown is showcasing its full range of classic and innovative solutions, including:

  • Crown’s award-winning Orbit® Closure, a revolutionary technology designed to be universally easy to open, significantly reducing the opening torque and enhancing convenience for consumers of all ages. The closure served as a breakthrough for European brands such as HAK and Duerr’s, leading producers of products in the preserved fruits and vegetables sector.
  • The company’s patented Easylift® easy-open ends, which offer greater consumer convenience through significantly improved tab access, making it even easier for consumers of all ages to open food products ranging from vegetables and soups to pet food without the need of a can opener or other tools.
  • PeelSeam™ peelable ends, which consist of a thin flexible foil heat-sealed to a rigid steel ring for conventional double seaming onto standard containers and offer an effective option for single-serve portions. By simply grasping the small tab on the lid, consumers can open cans smoothly and easily with a simple, fluid gesture.

“This is our second time showcasing Crown's capabilities at Eurasia Packaging, and our continued presence reaffirms our investment in – and commitment to – informing and supporting customers through the advantages of metal packaging,” said Olivier Aubry, Business Development and Marketing Director, CROWN Food Europe. “We offer unparalleled support for our customers at every stage of the packaging process and we are proud in the way we work collaboratively with them to engage consumers both in stores and at home."
